The contract between you and the operator of Sealname for domain registration and the WHOIS privacy service. Plain English, numbered sections.

**Quick answer — What do the Sealname terms of service say, in short?**

**Sealname**, a private domain name registration service paid in crypto, registers domains in your name: no ID, no KYC. Public WHOIS/RDAP shows our privacy service, not you, where the registry allows it. You pay from a prepaid crypto balance. Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers, but it is not refundable. Your data goes out only on a Panamanian court order (or on an urgent request under ICANN rules) or under ICANN duties, and no domain is taken down on a complaint alone.

## 1. Who we are

Sealname is operated by **DomaineGoat LLC, an ICANN-accredited registrar incorporated in Panama** ("we", "us"). These terms form the contract between you ("you", the customer) and DomaineGoat LLC for every service offered on sealname.com and in the client area.

By opening an account, topping up a balance or ordering a domain, you accept these terms, the [acceptable use policy](https://sealname.com/acceptable-use-policy/), the [disclosure policy](https://sealname.com/disclosure-policy/) and the [privacy policy](https://sealname.com/legal/privacy/). Each registry also has its own policies for its extension. They apply to your domain, and they prevail where they differ from these terms.

Contact: support@sealname.com. Abuse: abuse@sealname.com.

## 2. The service

We provide:

- **registration** of domain names in the extensions listed on the [pricing page](https://sealname.com/pricing/);
- **renewal**, manual or automatic (auto-renew);
- **transfer** of domains to us and away from us;
- **DNS management**: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and CAA records, or your own nameservers;
- **a transfer lock** you can switch on and off, and a **transfer code** (auth code) on request;
- **a WHOIS privacy service**, described in section 4.

We sell only extensions that can be registered privately. Availability is checked live through RDAP. Some registries confirm availability only at order, such as .io, .co, .me or .eu: a name shown as available can still be taken. We do not guarantee that a given name can be registered until the registry confirms it.

## 3. Your account

- **Login.** There is no sign-up form. A random 16-digit account number is your login. Keep it safe: anyone who has it can use your account.
- **Email.** An email is optional to open an account. Each domain needs one verified email (section 5).
- **Security.** We never ask for your password, your account number or your domain transfer (EPP) codes by email or chat. Never share your account number or transfer codes.
- **Recovery.** Account recovery goes only through the verified email of your domains. If you lose both your account number and access to that email, we may be unable to restore access.
- **One holder.** The account and its domains belong to the registrant of record of each domain, never to us.

## 4. The WHOIS privacy service

These terms of the privacy service are published as required by ICANN's Specification on Privacy and Proxy Registrations, part of the 2013 Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA).

**4.1 What it does.** Where the registry allows it, public WHOIS/RDAP shows our privacy service's contact details instead of yours. We sell only extensions whose registry allows it. The privacy service is free. Its availability for each extension is shown on the [pricing page](https://sealname.com/pricing/).

**4.2 You stay the registrant.** The privacy service is not a proxy service. You remain the registrant of record, the legal holder of the domain, with every right and duty of a registrant. We register a domain in our own name only under the separate "Registered in our name" option (4.8).

**4.3 Relay.** Messages sent to the contact shown in RDAP are forwarded to your verified email; we never forward spam or bulk mail.

**4.4 Reveal (disclosure).** We disclose your contact data only: (a) on a Panamanian court order, limited to the data it names; (b) to a dispute provider handling a UDRP or URS complaint, as ICANN requires; (c) under ICANN contractual duties, such as data escrow and compliance checks; (d) to answer an urgent request that ICANN rules require registrars to answer: an imminent threat to life, serious bodily injury, critical infrastructure, or child exploitation. We do not disclose it to a foreign lawyer, a private company or a foreign government without Panamanian legal process. See the [disclosure policy](https://sealname.com/disclosure-policy/). We notify you before any disclosure, unless the Panamanian court order forbids it. Every request is counted in our quarterly [transparency report](https://sealname.com/transparency/).

**4.5 Termination of the privacy service.** The privacy service for a domain ends when: you switch it off in your account; the domain is transferred to another registrar or its registration ends; the domain is suspended or the account is terminated under section 10; or a registry stops allowing privacy services for its extension. The public record then follows the rules of the registry and of ICANN for that extension.

**4.6 Abuse contact.** Reports of abuse or of trademark infringement involving a domain that uses the privacy service go to **abuse@sealname.com**, with no account needed.

**4.7 Escrow.** As the RAA requires, registration data, including the data of privacy service customers, is deposited with an escrow agent (RAA §3.6).

**4.8 Registered in our name (proxy registration).** For +$90 per year and per domain, on top of the extension price, we register the domain in the name of DomaineGoat LLC, which becomes the registrant of record. The registry, WHOIS/RDAP and the registration data show our company; no data of yours is sent to the registry. You remain the **beneficial owner** and we commit to: (a) give you full control of the domain — DNS, nameservers, renewals and redirects — from your account; (b) give you a free EPP code to transfer it out at any time; (c) put the domain **in your own name on request, free**, after which it becomes a standard registration. We keep only your verified email. The common policy applies unchanged: no takedown on complaint alone, disclosure only on a Panamanian court order except the urgent requests ICANN rules require, and suspension for phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud that takes money from victims. A UDRP or URS complaint names DomaineGoat LLC; we notify you, you can defend the domain, and the panel's decision is applied. The option exists only on extensions whose registry accepts DomaineGoat LLC as holder.

## 5. Your obligations

You agree to:

- **give a working email and verify it.** ICANN requires registrars to verify the registrant's email, or phone, within 15 days of a registration, transfer or change for generic extensions. If it is not verified in time, the domain is suspended until it is.
- **keep your registration data accurate** and update it in your account when it changes. Knowingly giving false data is a breach of these terms and can lead to suspension.
- **understand the Organization field.** Under ICANN's Registration Data Policy, if you fill the Organization field, that organisation becomes the registrant.
- **use the domain lawfully** and follow the [acceptable use policy](https://sealname.com/acceptable-use-policy/). Phishing, malware, botnets, pharming, spam used to spread them, and child sexual abuse material are forbidden.
- **respect the rights of others**, including trademarks. You are responsible for the content and the use of your domain and of every DNS record you create.

## 6. Prices and payment

- **Prices.** The prices of every extension are on the [pricing page](https://sealname.com/pricing/) and in [pricing.json](https://sealname.com/pricing.json), in US dollars per year. Each extension has one price: the first year, every renewal and a transfer cost the same. The price that applies is the one shown in your account when you confirm an order.
- **Crypto only.** We accept Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC). We do not accept cards, PayPal, bank transfers or Monero.
- **Prepaid balance.** You top up a balance (minimum $25), then pay registrations, renewals and transfers from it. Send each payment on the exact network shown on the payment page. A top-up counts once it is credited after the required blockchain confirmations. We cannot credit funds sent on the wrong network or to the wrong address.
- **Balance rule.** Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers, but it is not refundable.
- **Failed orders.** If a registration or a transfer fails, the amount goes back to your balance.
- **Price changes.** We may change prices, for example when a registry changes its own. A change applies to orders and renewals confirmed after it is published, never to a registration period you already paid.

## 7. Renewals and expiry

- **Auto-renew.** When auto-renew is on and your balance covers the price, we renew the domain before it expires, at the price shown on the [pricing page](https://sealname.com/pricing/). If the balance is too low, the renewal cannot be made.
- **Reminders.** Renewal reminders go to the verified email of the domain. Keep that mailbox working.
- **Expiry.** Your registration ends on its expiry date unless it is renewed. After that date, the grace periods set by each registry apply.
- **Restore.** A domain in its redemption period can often be restored. The restore price is shown in your account before you confirm. After the registry's periods end, the registry may delete the domain and release it to the public.
- **Your responsibility.** You are responsible for renewing your domains on time. We are not liable for the loss of a domain that expired because auto-renew was off or the balance was too low.

## 8. Transfers

- **Transfer in.** To move a domain to Sealname, unlock it at your current registrar, get its transfer code and start the transfer from your account. A transfer costs the price shown on the [pricing page](https://sealname.com/pricing/).
- **Transfer out.** The transfer code (auth code) is free, from your account, at any time. There is no exit fee. Switch off the transfer lock, give the code to your new registrar, and approve the transfer if asked.
- **Limits.** ICANN's Transfer Policy blocks a move to another registrar for a short period after a registration or a transfer. A domain under a UDRP complaint is locked and cannot be transferred until the procedure allows it. Registries may add their own rules.
- **Ownership.** You stay the registrant of record before and after a transfer. See [who owns my domain](https://sealname.com/who-owns-my-domain/).

## 9. Domain disputes

Generic extensions are subject to ICANN's Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP). Many new generic extensions are also subject to the Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS), and many country-code registries have their own dispute policies. By registering a domain, you agree to take part in these procedures.

When we receive a UDRP complaint, we must confirm the registrant to the dispute provider and lock the domain within 2 business days (WIPO, UDRP Rules). We implement the decision of the panel. The procedure is explained on [UDRP and disputes](https://sealname.com/udrp-and-disputes/).

## 10. Abuse, suspension and termination

Under the RAA as amended on 5 April 2024 (§3.18), we act promptly on well-documented DNS abuse. We may suspend a domain, or terminate an account, only for:

- phishing (including pharming), malware or botnets, and spam that spreads them: acted on within 24 hours of a well-documented report;
- fraud that takes money from victims — fake shops, investment and crypto scams, wallet drainers, impersonation of a bank or brand, sale of stolen data: acted on within 24 hours of a well-documented report;
- child sexual abuse material: acted on immediately, and the URLs are reported to NCMEC;
- an email that is not verified within the 15 days required by ICANN;
- a decision from a Panamanian court (foreign judgments must first be recognised in Panama), a UDRP or URS decision, or a decision of the registry.

**No takedown on complaint alone.** Copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court. Every abuse report receives an automatic acknowledgement with a reference number; other complaints are answered within 2 business days. The process is on the [abuse page](https://sealname.com/abuse/).

## 11. If Sealname stops operating

Your domains stay yours. Registrars must deposit registration data with an escrow agent (RAA §3.6). If a registrar loses its ICANN accreditation, ICANN moves its domains to another registrar using that data, under the De-Accredited Registrar Transition Procedure. Because you are the registrant of record, your rights in the domain do not depend on us.

## 12. Liability

- We provide the service with reasonable care. We do not control registries, ICANN, blockchains, DNS resolvers or your hosting, and we are not liable for their acts, delays or failures.
- We are not liable for losses caused by: a payment sent on the wrong network or to the wrong address; a lost account number or a lost verified email; a domain that expired because it was not renewed; a registry rule or decision; or a suspension under section 10.
- We are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits, lost business or lost data.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability for a domain is limited to the amount you paid us for its current registration period.
- You agree to compensate us, and the registry, for claims and costs caused by your use of the domain or by a breach of these terms.

Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

## 13. Your rights as a registrant

ICANN publishes the rights and duties of every registrant of a generic domain: [Registrants' Benefits and Responsibilities](https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/benefits-2013-09-16-en). They include the right to clear information about your registrar, its prices and its terms, including those of its privacy service. These terms do not reduce those rights.

## 14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when ICANN or a registry changes its rules. We publish every change on this page, and the date at the top shows the latest version. A change applies to orders and renewals confirmed after it is published. It never changes the price of a registration period you already paid.
