Quick answer
Can I register a domain in the registrar's name instead of mine?
Yes. Sealname, an ultra privacy-respecting domain registration service paid in crypto, offers Registered in our name: proxy registration for +$90 a year per domain, on top of the extension price. The registry and WHOIS show DomaineGoat LLC, never you, and no data of yours reaches the registry. You stay the beneficial owner — take it back in your name any time, free. One email, nothing else.

What is proxy domain registration?
In a proxy registration, the service registers the domain in its own name and lets you use it. The service is the official holder, the registrant of record; you are the beneficial owner. It is the model Njalla is known for.
Sealname offers two ways to register a domain:
- Standard (included): the domain is registered in your name, and our privacy service replaces your contact details in public WHOIS/RDAP. The registry receives our privacy contact.
- Registered in our name (+$90/year): the domain is registered in the name of DomaineGoat LLC. The registry, WHOIS/RDAP and the registration data show our company. Nothing about you is sent to the registry.
In both cases we keep one email, nothing else: it is how we reach you about your domain.
Standard vs Registered in our name
| Standard (in your name, privacy) | Registered in our name | |
|---|---|---|
| Official holder | You | DomaineGoat LLC |
| Price | The extension price (a .com: $12.99/year) | The extension price + $90 a year |
| Public WHOIS/RDAP | Our privacy contact | DomaineGoat LLC |
| Registry record | Our privacy contact | DomaineGoat LLC |
| What Sealname keeps | One verified email | One verified email |
| Control (DNS, nameservers, renewals) | You | You |
| Transfer out | Free EPP code, any time | Free EPP code, any time |
| Back in your own name | Already in your name | On request, free (the domain becomes standard) |
| UDRP complaint names | You | DomaineGoat LLC; we warn you and you can defend |
| Takedown and disclosure policy | Our common policy | The same common policy |
Who sees what when a domain is registered in our name?
Nobody outside Sealname sees you, and inside Sealname we see one email.
Who sees what
| Who | Standard (in your name) | Registered in our name |
|---|---|---|
| The public (WHOIS/RDAP lookup) | Our privacy contact; never your name, address or phone | DomaineGoat LLC |
| The registry | Our privacy contact | DomaineGoat LLC only: no data of yours |
| Sealname | One verified email, your account number, your domains and settings, your balance | The same: one verified email, nothing else |
| You | Full control in the client area | Full control in the client area |
| A Panamanian court | What its order names | What its order names |
What do you keep when the domain is in our name?
Everything that makes the domain yours. The terms of service include a written beneficial-owner commitment:
- Full control: DNS records, nameservers, renewals and redirects, from your account.
- Transfer out at any time, with a free EPP (transfer) code.
- Back in your own name on request, free. The domain then becomes a standard registration, with our privacy service.
- One email, nothing else: we never ask for your name, address, phone or ID to hold the domain for you.
This answers the usual worry about proxy services — "you do not own your domain" — with a written promise and a free exit.
What does Registered in our name not do?
It gives you anonymity towards the registry, not immunity. The rules are the same as for every Sealname domain:
- No takedown on complaint alone: copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court (foreign judgments must first be recognised in Panama).
- Your data only goes out on a Panamanian court order, except the urgent requests ICANN rules require registrars to answer (an imminent threat to life, serious bodily injury, critical infrastructure, or child exploitation).
- Strict exceptions, written openly: phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud that takes money from victims lead to suspension, whoever is the official holder.
- Trademark disputes follow the UDRP. A complaint names the official holder, DomaineGoat LLC. We warn you, you can defend the domain, and the panel's decision is applied.
One honest point about the contract: ICANN's Registrar Accreditation Agreement (§3.7.7.3) makes a registrant that licenses a domain to someone else liable for harm caused by its wrongful use, unless it discloses the user within 7 days on reasonable evidence of actionable harm. Our disclosure policy does not change for this option, so we keep that responsibility ourselves — and the strict exceptions above apply to every domain.
How much does it cost, and for which extensions?
+$90 per year and per domain, on top of the extension price, paid in crypto from your balance like any renewal. A .com registered in our name costs $12.99/year plus $90 a year.
The option exists on 130 extensions: their registries accept a foreign company as holder, with no residence rule. 12 of them are sold registered in our name only — .de, .uk, .nl, .cc, .to, .ch, .pl, .be, .at, .cz, .nz, .fi — because their registry needs a name and postal address: it receives ours, never yours, and the price shown for them already includes the option. It does not exist where DomaineGoat LLC itself is not eligible, such as .eu, .fr, .it, .ca or .us. Every price is on the price list.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns a domain registered in your name?
Officially, DomaineGoat LLC: it is the registrant of record, the name the registry and WHOIS show. You are the beneficial owner, with a written commitment in our terms: full control of DNS, nameservers and renewals, a free EPP code to leave, and the domain put back in your own name on request, free.
What does the registry learn about me?
Nothing. With Registered in our name, the registry receives only the data of DomaineGoat LLC. We keep one email, nothing else, to reach you about the domain. It is verified, never published and never sold, and it goes out only on a Panamanian court order or in an urgent case ICANN rules require.
How much does it cost?
$90 a year per domain, on top of the extension price, paid in crypto from your balance. A .com registered in our name costs $12.99/year plus $90 a year. The standard service, in your name with WHOIS privacy included, costs only the extension price.
Can I take the domain back in my own name?
Yes, at any time and free. Ask from your account or by email from the domain's verified address. The domain is then registered in your name with our privacy service, as a standard registration, and the extra $90 a year stops. You can also transfer it out with a free EPP code.
Does it protect my domain from suspension?
No. It gives you anonymity towards the registry, not immunity. Every domain follows the same policy: no takedown on complaint alone, but phishing, malware, botnets, child sexual abuse material and fraud that takes money from victims lead to suspension, whoever is the official holder.
What happens in a UDRP dispute?
The complaint names the official holder, DomaineGoat LLC. We warn you, you can defend the domain through the procedure, and the panel's decision is applied, as ICANN requires of every registrar. Check trademarks before you register: see UDRP and disputes.
Is it a Njalla alternative?
Yes, for people who want the proxy model with written rules. Njalla registers domains in its own name by default, with the proxy included in its €15 a year (terms quoted in 2023, secondary). Sealname charges $90 a year for it, puts a free hand-back in your name in its terms, and publishes its takedown and disclosure policy.
Which extensions can be registered in your name?
The 130 extensions we sell, such as .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .me and .xyz, plus 12 sold in our name only because their registry needs a name and address: .de, .uk, .nl, .cc, .to, .ch, .pl, .be, .at, .cz, .nz, .fi. Extensions where our company is not eligible, such as .eu, .fr, .it, .ca or .us, cannot be registered in our name.
